Although I love entertaining year-round, there’s something truly special about having family & friends over during the holiday season! I really enjoy welcoming my loved ones into my home and giving them delicious food, great conversations and a wonderful time! Part of what I love about having people over is creating a warm atmosphere full of seasonal decorations. Since this is our first year in a single family home, I’ve been extra excited to decorate our house for the season. I have been adding little Christmas touches everywhere: the fireplace mantel, the entryway table, the wall shelves, etc. Today, I’m so excited to share with you all an easy tutorial for making some festive honeycomb-stamped Christmas Tree Cones! For the stamp, I used a totally unexpected item (keep reading for the details) to create the honeycomb look on the paper! And speaking of honeycomb, I also want to share with you all a really yummy product that makes for festive snacks during the holiday season: the Don Victor Honey with Comb! And in case you didn’t know, the honeycomb itself is actually edible!

For the last few weeks, my whole family has been getting into the DIY decorating spirit! Just the other day, my daughter (at 4 years old) told me that a pine cone we found on the street “would make cute decor for the fireplace”! As the saying goes, I guess the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree! It has become a family tradition of ours to put on some Christmas music, sip some homemade hot chocolate and partake in some kind of Christmas craft together! Sometimes we’ll be trimming the tree and sometimes we’ll be making DIY ornaments. This set of Christmas tree cones that I’m sharing with you today is gorgeous for sprucing up any space of your house and giving it that extra bit of Christmas charm!

You won’t believe how easy and quick these trees were to put together. I used some basic scrapbook paper to form the base of the trees. And I used a totally unexpected item to stamp the look of honeycomb on the paper… bubble wrap! It was a fun craft project and I’m really happy with the way these trees came out! Let’s get to the tutorial now, shall we?

Supplies:
scrapbook paper
clear double-sided tape
bubble wrap
green acrylic paint
paint brush
embellishments for the trees (pom poms, gem stickers, rhinestone ribbon, etc.)
hot glue

Directions:
1. First, use the brush to paint the bubble wrap with the green paint.

2. Now, use the bubble wrap as a stamp! Place it on the scrapbook paper evenly and press down to imprint the look of a honeycomb. I found it easier to cut a large piece of bubble wrap that was as big as the scrapbook paper and stamp that on once, rather than stamping smaller sections and then trying to have them line up.

3. Let the paint dry fully (a few hours). Once dry, simply fold the papers into the shapes of cones. Secure with double-sided tape. Trim the bottoms so that the cones stand upright.

4. For the first tree, I simply hot-glued some tiny poms poms all over the tree to resemble little ornaments!

5. For the second tree, I wrapped some rhinestone ribbon all around the tree and secured with hot glue! This one is definitely an elegant one!

6. For the third tree, I adhered some acrylic gemstone stickers all over the tree! I found the gemstones at Walmart!

I’m loving my little trees and they totally add that fun, festive Christmas cheer to my home! I placed the trees throughout my home!

I love how the trees have that honeycomb-stamped look to them. Speaking of honey, I recently found a really cool honey product at Walmart: the Don Victor Orange Blossom Comb Honey ! What I love about this honey is that it’s a raw, filtered honey and it’s not heated or processed in any other way!

This honey is so delicious drizzled over so many snacks. Look.. you can totally see the comb in there! And guess what? The honeycomb can be eaten!

High-end restaurants often serve comb honey with a wide variety of cheeses (such as cheddar & brie) and crackers! I’ve always been a fan of honey and I love to add it to my tea, my oatmeal, my desserts, even my coffee… honey makes everything sweeter! While we were working on the Christmas Tree craft, I enjoyed a delicious snack featuring the honeycomb! I simply toasted a slice of bread, spread some butter on top and then drizzled it with the honey. I also cut a chunk of the comb and placed it on top. The comb softened and flattened… and made for a divine snack!

The comb honey also makes a great addition to French toast or pancakes! There’s something so fun & festive about the honeycomb!

I store my honey at room temperature in my kitchen pantry. If the honey crystallizes (a natural process of the glucose molecules forming crystals), I simply place the jar in some warm water and stir until the crystals dissolve. The next time you’re at Walmart, stop by the Hispanic Food aisle and you should find the Don Victor honey near the baking items! Look for the gorgeous globe jar!
