DIY Tile Tray for Movie Night

In our house, we absolutely love movie night! There’s something special about gathering everyone around the TV with some good snacks & drinks and enjoying a good movie at home. My girls really loved the Inside Out movie at the theater so when we found out that the Inside Out DVD was recently released at Target, we knew that a movie night would be in order. My girls get quite excited when movie night rolls around- they love cuddling on the sofa with us and partaking in this regular family tradition. For this movie night, I also made a super simple DIY Tile Tray to help me carry all our snacks and drinks from the kitchen to the playroom (that’s where we watch movies!) Oh, and while I was at Target to pick up the DVD, I also grabbed so many other movie night essentials!
First, here’s a sneak peek at the Tile Tray I made that holds all our snacks & drinks for movie night!

Supplies:
1 ceramic or marble tile (mine was 6″x12″)
2 cabinet handles
heavy-duty construction adhesive or extra-strength glue
4 protective furniture pads

Directions:
1. First, apply one of the protective furniture pads to each of the corners on the underside of the tile.

2. Using construction adhesive or extra-strength glue, adhere one of the cabinet handles to each side of the top of the tile. Let it fully dry for a few hours.

3. And that’s it! How easy was that?! I like how the protective furniture pads help to prevent the tile from scratching any table, counter or sofa that the tray rests on.

Next, I gathered all the snacks I picked up from Target for my movie night. In addition to the Inside Out DVD, I got so many delicious snack options at Target. We love these Archer Farms Parmesan Garlic Potato Chips. They’re so crunchy and flavorful- and perfect for a movie night snack. I also grabbed some Simply Balanced Unsweetened Sparkling Water in Tropical Cherry. They come in 8 slim cans and actually have zero calories- I love that they’re naturally flavored! They’re a perfect thirst-quencher to go with the chips. And for my girls, I got the Simply Balanced Organic Fruit Pouches. They love the Apple Berry flavor and I love that it’s organic & a great price!
Movie Night Snacks and Drinks from Target
A funny thing about my girls is that they LOVE wearing matching tops. It might be because they’re friends with some twins who always wear matching outfits! So while I was at Target, I stopped by the Kid’s Apparel section and found these adorable Circo shirts. I picked up one in 2T and one in 5T – I knew my girls would squeal with delight if they had matching shirts for our Inside Out movie night! While walking through the store, I also found a great deal on a gorgeous, cozy decorative pillow from Threshold. It has a very modern, geometric design and looks a lot more expensive than it actually was! I love shopping at Target, because I can find everything from snacks & drinks to home decor & clothing in one place at great prices!

So I loaded up all my snacks on my DIY Tile Tray. The tray is big enough to hold all our snacks & drinks, but if you’re looking for a bigger tray, you can just start out with a 12″x24″ tile.

I set up all my tray on the sofa and told my girls that movie night was about to begin!

They hurried into the room, wearing their matching shirts (they loved the shirts) and began browsing the insert that came with the Inside Out DVD.

We all had a fabulous movie night experience and the girls absolutely loved watching Inside Out at home. They love how Riley’s emotions are personified as characters that live inside her head. I love how the movie is a powerful reflection on the power of emotion, but it’s presented in a format that makes it fun for the kids! My girls have already requested a pair of matching Inside Out shirts, so it looks like I’ll be heading back to Target this week to look for those!

I received a copy of Inside out on Blu-Ray just recently. First time seeing the movie and we loved it. So adorable! My daughter just loves the short films that are only available on the Blu-Ray copy too!
