Kiwi lemonade recipe
July 14, 2015Ok, this recipe came about because I needed a way to use up a whole bunch of kiwis. The last time I was at the supermarket, for some reason, I decided to buy a (fairly large-sized) basket of kiwis. At least they’re fruits and fairly healthy. However, I needed to get creative in using them up. There’s only so many kiwis you can eat straight up, and lo and behold, my kids are not huge fans of the fruit.
I, however, love the taste and flavor of kiwis, and have found a way to incorporate the fruit into one of my all-time favorite Summertime beverages: lemonade! It’s so easy to whip together one of these kiwi lemonade drinks, only requiring a few minutes of prep. And with the bright green color, it’s a fun, festive drink that even my kids loved!
Kiwi lemonade recipe
Ingredients:
1 kiwi, peeled and cubed
juice of 1 whole lemon
1 cup water
2 tbsp. white sugar
ice cubes (optional)
1-2 drops green food coloring (optional)
Directions:
1. Place all ingredients into a blender or food processor. Pulse until smooth throughout.
The food coloring is totally optional and only serves to brighten up the green color of the final drink. The ice cubes can be incorporated into the drink to make it a bit slushier, or you can simply pour the kiwi lemonade over a few ice cubes. As always, feel free to adjust the sugar content to your taste. I like lemonade drinks to be on the tart side, but if you like them sweeter, you may want a bit more sugar (since the kiwi is already a pretty tart fruit).
