7 Tips for the Best Summer Ever

What’s not to love about summer? The warm sun on my skin, the days spent by the pool, the walks along the beach in the evening… it’s one of my favorite times of the year! Today I’m sharing some ways that I’m making the most of my summer this year. From choosing yummy snacks like Blue Diamond® Nut-Thins to taking plenty of adventurous road trips with the family, see why Summer 2019 is my best one yet!
1. Snack wisely.
One way that I like to reward myself during summer is to spread out a little blanket in the backyard and enjoy a simple snack picnic! This easy platter I created features Blue Diamond® Nut-Thins Original Almond and Blue Diamond® Nut-Thins Hint of Sea Salt, along with some hummus, guacamole, baby carrots & cucumbers. I picked up these Nut-Thins from my local Shoprite store, which is awesome because I visit that store once a week anyway for my household groceries. By the way, you can also find Nut-Thins at Kroger, Target, Walmart, and Safeway.
When it comes to snacking, I’ve always believed that compromise should never be an option. I love that Nut-Thins can satisfy all my snack cravings by offering a wide range of cracker flavors that you can feel good about!
Other flavors I want to try next time include Honey Mustard, Pepper Jack, Honey Cinnamon and Cheddar Cheese. I really appreciate that Nut-Thins are made without artificial flavors or colors. Plus, they’re free of wheat & gluten.
Nut-Thins are made with real California Almonds. Paired with some carrots, cucumbers, hummus and guacamole, this is my type of picnic snack. A wide variety of colors, textures and flavors makes this platter a delight for the taste buds!
Since there are only 130 calories per serving (~17 crackers,) it’s definitely a snack that I can feel good about enjoying.
By the way, there’s an amazing Nut-Thins 2 Win Sweepstakes going on right now. Enter for a chance to win $100,000 and other prizes throughout the summer through the Nut-Thins 2 Win Sweepstakes. This sweepstakes will run from June 3rd – August 31st. For official rules please visit NutThins2Win.com.
2. Use sunscreen.
We spend so much time outdoors during summer. Protecting our skin from the harmful rays of the sun is a must! I always keep an extra bottle of sunscreen in the car for on-the-go applications. If we’re in the water or doing any strenuous activity outdoors, then I make sure to re-apply often.
3. Take road trips.
For me, road trips are synonymous with summer. We probably take at least 4 road trips during the warmer months of the year. There’s something so exciting and adventurous about hitting the open road and exploring new towns. It’s even better when you don’t book your destination hotel and just see where adventure brings you.
4. Go light & easy with your beauty routine.
Who wants to mess with a hundred different beauty products during summer? Make your life easier by simplifying your routine and sticking to fewer products that are multi-tasking. I like a tinted moisturizer for summer because it’s lighter and goes on more quickly. Another favorite product for summer is a makeup stick that can be applied to the eye lids, lips and even cheeks – it’s a real multi-tasking powerhouse!
5. Stay hydrated.
Don’t forget to drink plenty of water throughout the day. One way that I like to encourage myself to drink more water is by infusing my water with fruits, veggies & herbs. Some combinations I like include lemon & basil or raspberries & cucumbers. It’s an easy way to boost your water intake.
6. Maximize your downtime.
If you find yourself with some free time, maximize that downtime by indulging in your favorite treat. Maybe an ice cream sundae is your guilty pleasure or maybe a chocolate fudge cake speaks to you. Treat yourself… you definitely deserve it! Make your time count by engaging in activities that fill your soul with good vibes!
7. Explore.
The summer is all about getting outside and doing things. Get out of your comfort zone and explore this beautiful planet. Go for a sunrise hike in a local park. Take a swim in a nearby lake. Lie down outdoors and star-watch at midnight. Experiences are the things that we remember the most fondly so make sure you experience life fully this summer!

I have yet to try these actually. I see them all the time. No idea why I haven’t simply bought a box to try. I think I actually am the type of shopper who relies on someone to communicate that a product is good or worthwhile before I actually commit to it. KWIM? We have done several road trips here actually already so these would be great for the next one.
