Are your kids’ toys all over the place and in desperate need of some serious wrangling? Are you looking for some easy organization ideas for your kids’ toys? Did I just see you nod? Welcome to the club! My kids’ toys are plentiful and keeping track of all the pieces (so as not to ever lose a very important figurine or a crucial puzzle piece) can be tricky, if not completely impossible. Today, we will be tackling PUZZLES!!! (Cue dramatic music!) Ok, ok, I know that’s a bit over the top, but puzzles can become a nightmare to store if not done properly.

I have a perfect solution for keeping your puzzles together and organized and neat! Best of all, your child can easily find the puzzle she wishes to complete and even better, can easily find all the pieces necessary to complete said puzzle! It’s a miracle, I tell you – a miracle!

Kid’s Toy Organizer: Puzzles

So what is this magic component of blissful puzzle organization? It’s the all-important, super-high-tech zippered plastic bag!

I’ll wait for you to pick up your jaws off the floor. I know this sounds crazy, but stick with me. Before we enacted this glorious organizational solution for the kids’ puzzles, this is what our puzzles looked like in storage.

We originally kept them in the cardboard box they came in, but once my 15 month old found that out, she used to entertain herself for hours, just spilling the puzzle pieces out all over the floor. She was so tickled by that! It was cute (I guess), but not at all conducive to maintaining a neat and orderly home.

So we opened each of the puzzle boxes and put each puzzle in its own plastic box. And here’s the most important part: We also cut out the finished picture from the cardboard box (you know, the picture that shows what the completed puzzle is supposed to look like) and inserted that into the bag, as well.

This way, my daughter can find the picture and know exactly which picture she is working on, and what the final picture is supposed to be! We then placed all of the plastic bags in this big ol’ tote basket, which we picked up from Dollar Tree.

How did we label this pretty receptacle of puzzle goodness? I’m glad you asked… I simply ripped a piece of washi tape, stuck it onto the basket, and wrote “Puzzles” with a Sharpie marker. Simple and effective!
