My daughters aren’t fans of just princesses and fairies – they like superheroes, too! As a female engineer myself, that’s exactly how I raised them! In fact, everyone in my household is a fan of Spider Man, so when Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse came out on DVD at Walmart, I knew we had to grab it and have the ultimate at-home movie night. For a fun snack, I made a batch of spiderweb-themed sugar cookies featuring Honey Bunches of Oats® with Strawberry and Honeycomb® cereal.

The sugar cookies are made with both Honey Bunches of Oats® with Strawberry and Honeycomb® cereal in the batter. It’s a pretty simple recipe that creates the perfect sugar cookie. If you’re a fan of Spider Man like we are, look for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse DVD and Blu-ray at your local Walmart store now. I am definitely one of those moms who believes that everything is better when the family is together. These sugar cookies are perfect because they have the tasty honey flavor the kids like and the wholesome nutrition I like. To get started with the recipe, gather the ingredients required: flour, eggs, sugar, butter, milk, baking powder and both cereals. I used both Honey Bunches of Oats® with Strawberries and Honeycomb® cereal. Did you know that Honey Bunches of Oats® Strawberry is made with REAL strawberries? It’s a classic cereal with a modern taste – perfect for a spontaneous snack!

Once everything is combined, I placed rounded dollops of the batter on a parchment paper-lined baking tray. The batter is a bit wetter than a traditional sugar cookie batter, but this just makes the final cookie more moist.

Bake at 350 degrees F for about 20 minutes until golden brown. Once they came out of the oven, I used a cookie cutter to create uniform circles.

After the cookies cooled, I added some cream cheese frosting to all the cookies.

To create the spiderweb design on top, I simply used black icing to create a series of concentric circles (they don’t have to be perfect.) Then draw lines from the center of the cookie to the outer circle.

I also added one piece of Honeycomb® cereal to the tops of the cookies, too. The Honeycomb® cereal resembles a spiderweb, doesn’t it? On some of the cookies, I used pink and black icing to add little spiders. A rounded dollop of pink icing, along with black lines & dots, creates the likeness of a spider.

I also did a quick five-minute update to some old coasters. By simply painting some cork coasters gray and then adding circles & lines using a metallic gray marker, I created these spiderweb coasters.

Between the spiderweb cookies, spiderweb coasters and our Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse movie, we are all set for a fun family movie night at home! These cereals totally remind me of my own childhood (these were some of my favorite breakfast options,) and I want to create similar memories with my own girls.

The girls and I were really excited to get started with the movie and we were totally entranced by all the action!

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse follows teenager Miles Morales as he explores the many dimensions of the Spider-Verse. In Spider-Verse, more than one individual can wear the mask and Miles crosses paths with five different counterparts from other dimensions! His mission is to stop a force that can threaten all dimensions. It’s really a captivating story line.

The girls enjoyed it so much and can’t wait to watch again. Since we own the DVD, we are planning to watch it again next week. Did you know that Spider-Man:Into the Spider-Verse won the Academy Award for best animated feature? I can see why!
