5 Ways to Brighten Your Look w/ SunIn Natural Hair Highlights

Whenever the seasons change, I always get the urge to change up my look a bit. For example, during spring & summer, I like to lighten my hair, add a glow to my skin, whiten my teeth, and more! Today I will share with you five easy ways that you can spruce up your appearance for the warmer months, too!
1. Create a healthy glow with tinted moisturizer!
While I love the look of beautiful suntanned skin, sitting in the sun for hours is a big no-no! To achieve a healthy glow & tan, I like to use a tinted moisturizer that’s one shade darker than my nature skin tone. This gives the appearance of a subtle, healthy tan… without any of the negative consequences of UV rays! Also, a great bronzer is another foolproof way to add some warmth to the face.
2. Lighten the hair with Sun-In!
There’s something about spring & summer that makes me want to brighten my hair. To achieve a gorgeous sun-lightened look, I turn to SunIn Natural Hair Highlights. Did you know that SunIn has been lightening hair since the ’70s? It’s not just activated by the sun – it’s actually heat-activated so it works with your hair dryer, too! Plus, it’s super easy to use – start by brushing your hair.
SunIn works best on damp hair so be sure to spray some water on your hair next.
Here’s a good look at my Before hair! It’s a dark brown with some medium highlights.
When you’re ready to apply SunIn Natural Hair Highlights to the hair, start by spraying it throughout and then brushing to ensure an even application. Once the product is in the hair, bring out the results with a hairdryer.
I love that Sun-In is an affordable product (less than five dollars!) that I can use from the comfort of my home!
Here’s my After hair! I am so pleased with the lighter color. It definitely looks more like a medium brown now! I love that SunIn Natural Hair Highlights offers a fast, easy, alcohol-free way to lighten my hair without the sun!
I love that my hair still looks natural… it looks like the sun did it!!! Perfect for spring & summer. Oh, and thanks to SunIn’s conditioning ingredients (botanical extracts & special illuminators), my hair looks extra shiny!
Look for Sun-In Tropical Breeze & Lemon Fresh at your local retailer. Achieve the same natural highlights you would get from the sun – except faster!
If you want to spruce up your hair color for the warmer months, check out SunIn. Throw it in your summer bag and keep in mind that it can be used throughout the year (not just during the summer) as an affordable, effective hair lightening treatment!
3. Exfoliate the skin!
For a smooth, healthy complexion, exfoliation is key. In fact, it’s an important step of any skincare routine. By sloughing away dead skin cells, exfoliants help to reveal radiant, new skin! Long-term exfoliation can even increase collagen production, which results in more youthful-looking skin. I tend to exfoliate more often during spring & summer to combat the extra oil production & sweating that happens during warmer months.
4. Opt for a fresh scent!
When the temps warm up, I put away all my fragrances that are spicy and heavy-feeling. During spring & summer, I prefer brighter, floral-inspired scents. Since scent is a very personal choice, go with fragrances that speak to you. However, putting into storage the perfumes you wore during winter is a smart move!
5. Whiten your teeth!
If you’ve followed this blog for a while, you know that I love my teas! During the warmer months, I drink plenty of iced teas during the day. To combat the teeth-staining effects of tea (and coffee), I whiten my teeth. I use an at-home kit and it only takes a few weeks to see a noticeable difference. If you’re looking to spruce up your appearance, consider whitening your teeth during the change of season for a fresh start to spring & summer!
I hope these tips have inspired you to refresh your look for the warmer months! Have you ever tried SunIn Natural Hair Highlights? How do you brighten up your look for spring & summer?

I used sun-in when I was a teenager. I had no idea it was even still around. I get my hair done professionally, so I can’t use this now, but how fun for the teens these days 🙂
Love all your ideas for freshening up for summer. Didn’t know they still made sun in products. My daughter use to use this on her hair.
I might have to try this out. My hair can look rather dark at times and I’m too cheap to get highlights.
This is a fabulous (and very affordable!) solution. Hope you give it a try, Amber! 🙂
I like fruity scents and year round stay with the same ones. I remember SunIn from way back in the day. I had no idea that it was still on the market.
Yes, I remember SunIn from many moons ago too! It’s still around and still lightening hair! 🙂

I love the highlights looks good on you! I wanted to try that hair moisturizer my hair is sometimes dry when its too hot outside. Is this something I can buy to a local store?

I remember using Sun In when I was younger. I had no idea it was still around. I really like how yours turned out.
Eeek! I love Sun In! I used it all through the 70s and 80s for that sun streaked look. I lost touch with it but I am so glad to see it is back!
I would love to try sun-in but my hair is so dark I’m afraid it would make it orange?? I’m glad you had such great results though!!
How fun are those! You no longer have to wait at the salon to get highlights and you can remove them easily as well. Love the look it gives you!
