With the holiday season in full swing, nothing is more festive than whipping up a delicious treat in the kitchen. And when it comes to holiday treats, I love the combination of peppermint and chocolate. Today’s recipe is a delicious, no-churn ice cream made with DairyPure® Heavy Cream, crushed candy canes & chocolate chips. Keep reading for all the details.
No-Churn Peppermint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream
Just because the temps are dropping does not mean that I’m ready to put away my ice cream scoop for the season. No, the delicious flavor and texture of homemade ice cream is one of my favorite things ever. In fact, that sweet, creamy cold goodness is pure perfection (if you ask me). Don’t have an ice cream maker? Don’t fret (I don’t have one either). However, we’re in luck because this recipe does not require any churning. By mixing the right ingredients together and freezing for several hours, you can easily create a soft-serve ice cream right at home. I love that this recipe is quick & easy and comes together in no time. Less time in the kitchen means more time making memories with my family during the holiday season. #SimplyMadeMemories are the best kind of memories, am I right?!
Ready for the recipe? Start by adding the ingredients to a medium mixing bowl: DairyPure® Heavy Cream, sweetened condensed milk, red food coloring, crushed candy canes and chocolate chips. Scroll all the way down to the recipe card for detailed recipe info.
Use a whisk to combine the mixture.
Pour the mixture into a loaf pan. The chocolate chips and candy canes will sink to the bottom but that’s perfectly fine.
Freeze the mixture for at least several hours. I left mine in the freezer overnight. If you don’t touch the loaf pan until morning, the chocolate chips and candy canes will have settled at the bottom- that’s still fine. Simply scoop from the bottom and each serving will have plenty of chips and candy canes. Alternatively, if you want the mixture to be homogeneous throughout, simply mix the ice cream every few hours while it’s in the freezer. When it comes out of the freezer, it will have the texture of soft-serve ice cream, but it’s still totally scoop-able!
This ice cream is guaranteed to be a delicious addition to my Christmas dessert table this year. Plus, it was such an easy recipe to prepare.
I will be hosting Christmas at my house this year so I am definitely going to be making a big batch of this cold, sweet goodness for my guests.
Thanks to #DairyPure Heavy Cream in the mixture, this ice cream is super rich & decadent.
Each bite is a perfect marriage of flavors and textures. The combination of the cold & creamy ice cream pairs so well with the sweet flavor of the chocolate and the crunch of the candy cane pieces.

I don’t have an ice-cream maker so anything that’s “no churn” gets a double thumbs up from me. This one is perfect for the holiday season. I love anything that involves peppermint!
One of my boys says that Mint is his favorite ice cream. Usually, he has the green mint chocolate chip, but I bet that he would like this one. He would be happy that I could make it at home!
I bet my daughter would love it if I made this one soon. She loves peppermint anything and also loves ice cream so this would be a perfect combo for her. I like the idea of no churn too because sometimes I forget to freeze the ice cream maker, this would be great for those times!
Yummy! I love ice cream! I eat it all year around. Sometimes I make it at home, but I’ve never tried this flavor! Sounds so delicious!
I used to love making ice cream as a kid. I remember making it in 6th grade science class out of coffee tins and ice. Although I’m vegan and wouldn’t be able to make this specific recipe, I’m sure I can use coconut or almond milk as a substitute. Thanks for sharing!
Wow! What fun – we did churn ice cream a few times at the conference centers I was in charge of – just enough to let the kids see how it used to be done!
But this is way easier and Christmasy!
My mom has been making her own ice cream for years, but she uses a ton of different recipes. She would love this one! I’m not personally a fan of mint and chocolate together but I know she loves it!
Looks yummy! I was reminded that I had an ice cream maker somewhere. 😀 But it’s winter so I’m just saving your recipe for now…will definitely do this in summer. ^_^ Fun!
Oh wow, thanks for sharing the recipe. We have an ice cream maker but we seldom use it, like twice only! 🙂 I guess it’s because the food store is too near and we’d rather buy a ready-made one from there. It’s just good that you can mix anything when you make it on your own.
