Create succulent terrarium DIY
July 24, 2012I’ve always loved the look of a succulent terrarium – the rocks, the greens, the stones. Even better is the fact that they are so low-maintenance. You only need to water these plants once or twice a week and you can decorate the plant container with cute stones, rocks or even sand. You can even add a small figurine, like a deer or a palm tree. The possibilities are truly endless. Here is how I created my succulent terrarium.
Create a succulent terrarium today – a DIY project
First, start with a plain vase or container. It’s best if the top of the vase or container is wide-mouthed to make it easier to arrange the plants and adjust. I’ve had this glass container for a while now. I used to use it to store bananas or apples but I thought it had the perfect dimensions for this type of project. I filled it half-way with various rocks and stones.
Gather your supplies. Obviously, collect your plants and lay down a protective cloth or paper underneath your work space to contain any soil or debris.
Add your plants to the glass container. Arrange in a pleasing way and add some decorative stones (or figurines, if desired) on top. I used translucent blue glass stones on top. I also added a few shells to the top. I love the way it came out!
