When we moved into our current house about one year ago, one of the things I loved most about the new place was how much closet space it offered. We now have large closets in every room- this is something that was sorely missed in our previous place (the townhouse). However, with all the closet space, I need to make sure that everything is neat and organized. Today, I’m going to show you how I made a DIY Closet Organization Caddy using an old shoe box. This caddy is used to store various linen closet essentials, including batteries, candles, my Scotch-Brite™ Lint Rollers, and more!

Here’s what my organization caddy looks like!

The caddy is a simple structure, but it works well to keep like items together: all the candles together, all the batteries together, etc. One of the items stored in my caddy is the Scotch-Brite™ Lint Roller! I use this lint roller all over the house and it really makes my life easier on a daily basis. Let me first share with you how this caddy came together!

Today’s project was originally inspired by a particular box in my linen closet that held all sorts of random stuff: candles, spools of thread, etc. It was very disorganized and finding something inside this black hole box was quite difficult. I knew I needed to create a better organizational system for all this stuff!

To make an organization caddy from an old shoe box, here’s what you’ll need to get started:

  • shoe box
  • decorative duct tape
  • glass mason jars
  • chalkboard label
  • label maker (optional)

1. Start by wrapping the duct tape around the shoe box. The duct tape I used has a gorgeous woven pattern so the finished shoe box will look like a wicker basket!

2. Finish wrapping the shoe box completely and be sure to add one layer on the inside of the basket so the top edge looks finished.

3. Now, it’s time to focus on the mason jars.

4. Wrap one strip of duct tape around each of the jars. I used this cute fish-themed tape on the glass jars- I love that it complements the nautical theme in my home decor.

5. Using a label maker, print out labels for each of the jars. If you don’t have a label maker, you can simply use store-bought adhesive labels and write the contents of each jar.

6. Next, I filled the glass jars with like items: all the tea light candles together, all the sewing supplies together, all the cleaning cloths together, all the batteries together, etc. I also placed the corresponding label on each jar.

7. These mason jars now go inside the shoe box, along with a jumbo mason jar to hold my Scotch-Brite™ Lint Roller. I also added a chalkboard label on the side of this caddy. I love that this caddy has dedicated spots for each of my linen closet essentials!

Part of my linen closet essentials are the Scotch-Brite™ Lint Roller and the Scotch-Brite™ 50% Stickier Lint Roller. I picked these up during a recent trip to Walmart and I got a great everyday value on these products!

The Scotch-Brite™ Lint Roller is so easy to use and works well, so it’s definitely a staple in my house. With 95 sheets apiece, each roll lasts a long time!

Scotch-Brite™ Lint Rollers are perfect for keeping clothing & fabric free of lint, hair & fuzz. Since these are the only lint rollers that feature Scotch™ adhesive, they’re strong enough to grab even the tiniest of lint and debris! One way that I use these lint rollers is to clean the microfiber seats on my breakfast bar stools.

I love that these lint rollers are guaranteed to tear cleanly, so I don’t have to worry about wasting sheets or having ragged edges. I always use these lint rollers to remove hair and lint from from my window curtains. Using these lint rollers is so much more convenient than having to take the curtains down and laundering them.

One of my everyday uses for these lint rollers is to get my clothing looking great! The Scotch-Brite™ Lint Roller is ideal for use on pants, coats, sweaters, dresses, suits, formal wear and more. In fact, I keep one of these lint rollers in my car at all times to make sure my shirt & pants always look their best.

Another product I recently picked up was the Scotch-Brite™ 50% Stickier Lint Roller, which is ideal for picking up larger debris, including pet hair, crumbs, sand, glitter, etc. With this lint roller, I can save so much time and energy by not needing to take out the large, heavy vacuum cleaner often. I can simply use the lint roller to clean fabric and upholstery so easily.

With the new 50% Sticker Lint Roller Twin pack from Walmart, I get 2 Lint Rollers, each of which features 60-count sheets + 10 bonus sheets. During a recent craft session with the kids, we had a spill of white glitter all over our gray sofa. I knew that the Scotch-Brite™ 50% Stickier Lint Roller would make quick work of this mess.

With 50% more adhesive, this lint roller is equipped to clean soft surfaces quickly and easily! A quick swipe with this lint roller removed all of the glitter quickly and easily.

Now, the sofa is pristine again.

I found these lint rollers in the closet / laundry aisles of my local Walmart store. Keep in mind that you may be able to find these products in various sections of the store (Cleaning Aisle, Sewing & Notions or Closet & Laundry Sections.)
