Easy Dollar Store Clipboard Update

When it comes to keeping my kids busy and entertained every day, nothing compares to the enjoyment they get from arts & crafts. Between colored pencils, crayons, markers, pastels, highlighters, watercolors, acrylic paints, glitters, glues,… our house is basically a crafting warehouse! As you know, I love to create and use my imagination, so when my daughters express an interest to make something artistic, I always encourage them.
I’ve been trying to find cute, unique ways to display my kids’ artwork for many years now. This system here has worked for a while. And in our previous house, we set this up, which also worked well. However, it’s time to make some updates and a new place to display their artwork was in order (more on that to come soon). Hint: Our new art display center features clipboards!
For today, I will show you how I took five dollar store clipboards and made them totally chic and refined using contact paper! It was a really simple process and I’m in LOVE with how they came out!
Easy Dollar Store Clipboard Update
Here’s what you’ll need:
basic clipboards
cute contact paper (I love this, this and this)
pair of scissors
utility knife
Here’s how this all goes down:
Use the scissors to cut the contact paper so that it’s a few inches longer than the clipboard on all sides.
Flip the clipboard over and use the utility knife to cut the contact paper along all edges.
Voila! Done!
Wasn’t that easy? I made five of these little babies! I can’t wait to show you in a few days what I did with them! And why this new system makes displaying my daughters’ art masterpieces easier than ever!!

What a fantastic and creative way to snazzy up inexpensive clip boards, look so much prettier. Clever girl and aren’t your girls lucky to have Mom who encourages them expressing themselves in art?
Schools have taken so many of classes away for kids to learn art, music, no wonder too many kids spend too much time on their phones and computers. So now it’s up to parents to encourage kids in expressing themselves, feel bad for kids who don’t have parents to encourage them.
I was lucky to learn to sew and decorated our house since my Mother worked 6 days a week for many years. From doing those activities it grew into other ways for me to express myself. My Dad was an oil painter of landscapes, he encouraged my art interests.
Were you interested in art as a kid? You are so talented am thinking you might have loved art as a child.
Well our master bath isn’t going to clean itself. I took all out of it so I would have to clean, not put it off for another day. Need to clean frig also, but that will be for another day.
Have wonderful fun weekend
Thanks, JaneEllen! I can’t wait to share how these clipboards will be put to use in our home! Yes, I absolutely loved art as a kid … and I still do!
By the way, I cleaned out our refrigerator last week (threw away old/expired stuff, sorted, organized, labeled, etc.) It was a lot of work, but it’s a pleasure to look inside the fridge now! 🙂
Have a great weekend!
