How to Create an Outdoor Living Room

When we first moved into our single family home last year, one of the things we were most excited about was having a big backyard! This year, we decided to really get more use out of our outdoor space by creating an outdoor living room. And trust me, it was such an easy process that really boosts our ability to enjoy time outdoors all day long! I can’t wait to show you how I transformed my yard and share the details of the products that made this process easier, including the Enbrighten Café Lights by Jasco.

Here is the space we started out with.

It’s pretty bare, right? This was the location where the previous homeowners had left a wooden swing set. The swing set was old and the wood was rotting, so we removed it. We replaced it with a metal swing set that we put on the other side of the yard. But details about that is for another post on another day. Now, back to our outdoor living room! I knew we needed to create some shelter, so we would be able to enjoy the space even if it’s raining. So we put up a gazebo!

I love that the gazebo protects us from the sun & rain! To define the space a bit more, we added an Indoor/Outdoor Rug.

I think this space is really starting to feel defined now. Next, we needed somewhere to sit, of course. So I added some patio furniture: a love seat, two chairs and a table.

A few extra throw pillows makes this outdoor living room much more comfortable. Now, this is definitely looking more like a living room to me! What do you think?
