Is it just me or did this school year fly by? I can’t believe the kids have just a few more days of school! We are totally gearing up for summer break. To keep the kids entertained all summer long, I’m creating a list of low-cost, fun activities for the kids. My kids love helping me out in the garden, so I decided to make this DIY Magical Illuminated Fairy Garden powered by Energizer® Ultimate Lithium™ batteries, which are the #1 longest-lasting AA battery (20-year shelf-life for AA/AAA batteries).
This project was not only fun to put together, but it’s also going to be an entertaining, interactive toy to play with throughout the summer. The kids love to rearrange the figurines, play with the various components and create little scenes. Oh, and I have a fabulous promotion for you all today. From today until 6/30, when you buy an 8 pack or larger of Energizer® Ultimate Lithium™ batteries with Balance Rewards at Walgreens, you can earn 5,000 loyalty points. What is the Balance Rewards program? It’s free & easy to join! Sign up in-store, online or via the Walgreens app. Every time you shop, you can earn points and eventually you can turn those points into dollars off future purchases. How are you going to power up your summer?
DIY Magical Illuminated Fairy Garden
Start by gathering the supplies you’ll need for this project: shallow tray, soil, rocks, stones, beans, seeds, fairy figurines, fairy house, fairy swing, small plant/flower clippings, battery-operated light set and Energizer® Ultimate Lithium™ batteries.
To power this fairy garden, I’ll be using the Energizer® Ultimate Lithium™ batteries (the 8-pack of AA batteries). These lightweight batteries perform in extreme temps from -40F to 140F and feature a leak-resistant construction.
Start by filling a shallow tray or dish with soil.
Add the fairy house/swing on one side. Pour the stones & seeds on top of the soil to form little paths. This adds an organic, whimsical touch to the scene. I also added larger rocks along the circumference of the dish.
Next add fairy figurines and some small plant/flower clippings throughout the scene.
My girls absolutely love fairy gardens like these and I just know they’ll love all the little details in this one.
This fairy garden will sit in the kid’s playroom for hours of free summer fun this year!
I also wanted to make a bench to add to the scene. I grabbed some small twigs and hot glued a few small strips together. Then I added two thicker twigs to form the legs of the bench.
The final step to make this garden come to life is to add some fairy lights. Did you know that Energizer® Ultimate Lithium™ batteries are 33% lighter compared to alkaline batteries (AA/AAA only)? Thanks to these batteries, this garden will glow brightly for countless hours throughout the summer!
The lights add such a magical touch to the scene!
My girls have seen fairy gardens like these at stores, but now with just a bit of DIY effort, we have our very own!
I am quite impressed by how this fairy garden turned out!
