Of all the seasons, Fall is my favorite by far! The falling leaves, the crisp air, yummy baked treats, visits to the apple orchards – these are some of the things I associate most with Fall! Speaking of baked treats, one of my favorite pie flavors of all time (pecan pie) has recently merged with one of my favorite candies of all time… yes, my friends, M&M’s® Pecan Pie have recently hit store shelves! Every Fall, one of our favorite traditions as a family is heading over to a local farm, where they offer apple picking to the public! In the weeks leading up to our trip, I read my children books about apple picking, do some apple-inspired kids’ crafts, and talk to them about growing fruit trees. Then we head over to the apple orchard and have a fabulous day picking apples, sipping hot apple cider and enjoying some fresh, warm donuts. Here is Sophia exploring the rows of apple trees!
Picking Apples in the Fall
Besides apple picking, another Fall tradition I personally enjoy is making yummy baked treats! For my Spiced Apple Cake w/ M&M’s® Pecan Pie Topping, I headed right over to Walmart to find the ingredients. I shop at Walmart several times a week, because I love the convenience of being able to pick up so many different products in one single store. Oh, and of course, the great prices are something that always brings me back to the store! I found the M&M’s® Pecan Pie in a seasonal food aisle!

When I got home, the first thing I did was try the M&M’s® Pecan Pie and let me just say that these candies are so delicious and perfectly reminiscent of my favorite Fall pie- pecan pie! I enjoyed quite a few of them, and then realized I needed to save some for my recipe! 🙂
M&M’s® Pecan Pie
Here’s the recipe for my cake!
Ingredients:
1 cup M&M’s® Pecan Pie
1/4 cup Snapple® Apple
1 package Pillsbury™ Moist Supreme® Cake Mix
1 cup Mott’s® Apple Sauce
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 cup pecan halves
vanilla cream cheese frosting

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a mixing bowl, combine the Snapple® Apple, Pillsbury™ Moist Supreme® Cake Mix, Mott’s® Apple Sauce and cinnamon.

2. Whisk ingredients together and pour into a greased cake pan.

3. Bake for 25 minutes and top with the vanilla frosting.

4. Chop the M&M’s® Pecan Pie and add to the top of the cake.

5. Place the pecan halves around the circumference of the cake.

Between the colors of the M&M’s® Pecan Pie and the flavors within the cake & topping, this recipe is definitely perfect for the Fall season!
My husband and I cut one slice, enjoyed it and then quickly cut another slice! 🙂

I love how the cake is soft and moist, while the topping is crunchy and sweet! It’s a wonderful balance!

Supplies:
felt sheets in multiple Fall-themed colors
print-out of a leaf
scissors
gray marker
hot glue

Directions:
1. Trace the leaf print-out onto the sheets of felt. (Click here if you want the exact leaf template I used!)

2. Cut out the leaf shapes out of the felt.

3. Using the gray marker, draw the veins of the leaves. Then using hot glue, attach the leaves in sequence at an angle to create a pretty runner.
