Easy overnight oats

Did you know that you can eat oatmeal in the morning without actually heating it up and cooking it the traditional way? There is such a thing as overnight refrigerator oats, where you soak oatmeal in some milk (and other fix-ins) in the refrigerator overnight. By morning, it is soft and cold and perfect for a satisfying morning meal during the Summer, when you don’t really want to consume anything too hot!

I love how the texture of oatmeal prepared in this way is not as paste-y as oatmeal prepared in the traditional way. I love how the addition of toppings adds a textural variety to the meal, and how many possible variations there are to the flavor profiles of this breakfast.

Here is how I made this Easy Overnight Oatmeal dish!

First, I add the raw oatmeal to a mason jar. I use about 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup depending on hunger level.

Next, I add some chia seeds- a few tbsps usually. It makes the final product much thicker!

I then top it off with milk.

Finally, I add some blueberries and honey.

Next, I shake it and put it in the fridge overnight. In the morning, another quick shake and it’s ready to eat!
