It’s that time of the year again… time for all those holiday road trips. We always find ourselves doing plenty of driving during the holiday season. To get our car ready for all that driving, I like to give the inside of the car a thorough de-cluttering and cleaning. Today, I will be sharing the simple recipe for a DIY leather conditioner for the car seats. Furthermore, to ensure our car’s engine is ready to log all those miles on the road, we like to visit the Walmart Automotive Care Center to get the oil changed with Pennzoil® Platinum Full Synthetic Motor Oil. By the way, Pennzoil® Platinum Full Synthetic is on Rollback (from $49.88 to $44.88) through December 27, 2016, so be sure to take advantage of this savings before it ends. With a little prep, getting the car in top shape for those holiday road trips can be stress-free!
Most of my family lives about 50 miles away from us. That means we do a lot of driving to stay in touch, especially during the holiday season! Last year, for example, between major holidays and various birthday parties, it seemed as if we were doing a road trip every other weekend! Luckily, my family and I enjoy driving together! We sing songs, play games and just enjoy the scenery! Over the years, we have found some tricks that are guaranteed to make road trips smooth & successful and I’m excited to share them with you today!
DIY Leather Conditioner & Car Cleaning Tips
The leather seats in our car can get a bit dingy from all those accidental coffee spills, dust, and everyday wear & tear. This DIY Leather Conditioner is a fabulous way to restore the leather seats to top shape. All you need for this is 2 parts white vinegar to 1 part olive oil and a spray bottle. You could also add some essential oil for fragrance. I added some lavender essential oil to my bottle!
Simply add the ingredients to the spray bottle and shake well to combine.
Now, to clean & condition the leather in your car, simply spray the solution onto the leather. As with all leather cleaning products – homemade or commercial – it’s wise to test the solution on an inconspicuous area first.
Then wipe clean with a microfiber cleaning cloth! See how clean & conditioned the leather is afterwards. I did this for all the seats in the front and back of the car.
Next, it’s time to tackle all that dust that tends to build up on the dashboard. Simply pick up one of these microfiber pads with “cleaning fingers” from Walmart.
Simply run this along the vents of your car’s dashboard. I use this little cleaning pad to dust the whole dashboard, steering wheel, center console, and more!
I love seeing how brilliantly clean and dust-free the dashboard looks afterwards!
Now, let’s turn our attention to the car floor. With two kids always in tow, the floor of our car tends to collect so much debris, dust, food wrappers, etc.
Invest in a hand-held vacuum to make quick work of the floor mats! Only a few quick swipes of the vacuum restores the mats to like-new condition!
Finally, if you’re traveling with kids, you know that a peaceful ride is only possible if the kids are content! My kids need snacks, drinks, books, toys, etc. to keep them entertained on long car rides. To keep everything contained neatly, I like to use one of these multi-compartment caddies. It conveniently holds all their essentials in one spot and I can easily hand them everything all at once from the front seat.
Visiting Grandma & Grandpa during the holidays is one of our favorite activities of the season. However, to make sure that the car is ready to log all that mileage, I bring my car to the Auto Care Center at Walmart beforehand. When it comes to oil changes, we always opt for Pennzoil® Platinum Full Synthetic Motor Oil with PurePlus™ Technology, because it keeps the pistons up to 20% cleaner than required by the strictest industry standard. That’s a premium level of clean that I can appreciate!
Did you know that Pennzoil motor oil performs much better in extreme hot & cold temperatures compared to other motor oils? In fact, Pennzoil gets my engine cleaner than any other synthetic oil! Getting the work done at the Walmart Auto Care Center is convenient and affordable. In fact, I usually shop throughout the store while the expert technicians work on my car. I can pick up all the essentials we’ll need for our road trip (drinks, snacks, books for the kids, etc.) Walmart is indeed my one-stop-shop for getting ready for cold weather road trips!
I sometimes peek through the glass to check on the progress of the oil change. I am always impressed by how quickly the work is completed.
When I get tired of walking & shopping in the store, I usually sit down in the Guest Waiting Area. There are comfy sofas, a television and even some refreshments. Not only is the service & amenities exceptional, the affordability cannot be beat!
If you live in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina or Tennessee, I have some exciting news for you! Your local Walmart Auto Care Centers are now able to change your car’s oil with Pennzoil® Platinum Full Synthetic Motor Oil! Let the auto technicians make your life easier by getting your oil changed with Pennzoil at Walmart’s Automotive Care Center! And don’t forget that Pennzoil® Platinum Full Synthetic is on Rollback (from $49.88 to $44.88) through December 27, 2016, so take advantage of this amazing savings while it’s still available!
Have you ever had your car’s oil changed at the Walmart Auto Care Center? Do you like the performance and quality of Pennzoil® Platinum Full Synthetic Motor Oil? Will you be doing a lot of driving this holiday season?
