DIY Washi Tape & Pom Pom Bracelets
June 24, 2015This is a fun little craft for kids (and adults alike). You start with popsicle sticks or craft sticks (I used skinny sticks), then you bend them into bangle-shapes and then decorate them with washi tape and pom poms. The kids absolutely love this craft idea and it can be a great bonding experience to make (and then wear) matching bracelets with your little girls!
The tutorial is super simple. You’ll have so much fun, you’ll want to make DIY bracelets again and again!
DIY Washi Tape & Pom Pom Bracelets
Supplies:
popsicle sticks or craft sticks
empty cup
washi tape, assorted colors
pom poms
hot glue
yarn or colorful string
Directions:
1. First take your popsicle sticks and insert them into a cup full of water. Let that sit overnight. I used an old Dunkin Donuts cup.
2. Take the popsicle sticks out and SLOWLY bend them into a half-circle shape. Move slowly or they will crack. Insert them into an open cup. Let them sit there overnight.
3. Wrap strips of washi tape around your bangle-shaped popsicle sticks. Use alternating colors or create an interesting pattern. Or just let your kid go wild with her own designs!
4. Using a dab of hot glue, adhere a pom pom to the center of the bangle. Use more hot glue to attach two small pieces of yarn or string to the inside of the bracelet. These will be used to tie the bracelet on and keep it from falling off.
My daughter absolutely loved making these. She has even asked me to do it again, only 2 days later. That’s a sure sign of a successful project!! 🙂
This looks like a really fun craft for the little ones.
