Lime & Mint soda
August 1, 2014This lime and mint soda was inspired by a trip to France when I was around 16. I was walking down the streets, which were lined by cafes and restaurants. And so many people were drinking this bright green soda drink. I was certainly intrigued and had to inquire around. I eventually found out they were drinking a mint soda.
And it’s certainly an easy drink to prepare at home. All you really need to find is mint syrup. Then again, you could probably always make mint syrup, by making traditional homemade sugar syrup and then infusing the flavor of mint. To make traditional sugar syrup, simply mix equal parts of water and sugar in a pot on the stove until dissolved. Then let cool.
Anyway, I never made mint syrup, because the one I get from the store is affordable and delicious and well, very convenient! You can order it online hereor here, or you can check a large supermarket in your area: either in the jam/jelly aisle or in the international aisle.
Let’s get to this recipe now!
Lime & Mint soda
Ingredients:
- 2 tbsp. mint syrup
- 2 tsp. lime juice
- 1 cup seltzer or sparkling water
Steps:
- Combine all ingredients in a glass over ice. Garnish with a lime slice! I used green reusable ice balls – they look so festive in this green drink!
