When my kids come from school, two things are always certain! They want a fun activity to do and they want a yummy snack to enjoy! That’s actually something that I fondly remember from my own childhood: coming home to my mom after school, doing my homework and eating something delicious! I remember she used to give me Ellio’s Pizza many times, and it was definitely my favorite snack to come home to! Now, I’m happily carrying on that tradition with my own daughters.

During the hot days of Summer (when it’s too hot to stay outside under the midday Sun), we love to do something fun indoors (like a craft) and enjoy a delicious snack. Just last week, when the kids came home, we all had a lot of fun making some colorful fish from paper plates, and we also enjoyed some delicious Ellio’s Pizza! When it comes to great-tasting pizza that’s convenient to prepare, nothing compares to Ellio’s Pizza! There’s something about that iconic crunchy crust and delicious cheese that’s so nostalgic for me!

Would you like to make these colorful fish with your kids? I’ve done a lot of craft projects with my toddler and preschooler over the years, so I have some smart tips on making the whole process stress-free for all. Even though doing crafts with kids can get messy, clean-up doesn’t have to be difficult. Use a plastic tablecloth or a piece of oilcloth fabric (it can be easily wiped clean) on your table so that any stray paint or glue won’t damage the table.

I find it’s a lot easier for my kids to paint when I place dollops of various paint colors onto a paper plate. This is a lot neater than letting the little ones squeeze paint directly out of the bottles. Trust me, I know this one from experience! 😉

And finally, when it comes to pom poms, feathers and other small embellishments, place the various pieces inside an old muffin tin. It then becomes very easy for the kids to decorate their fish with their preferred accessories. Please note that if your child is very young, refrain from using small craft supplies that may pose a choking hazard.

My 5 year old had a blast making a rainbow fish using her favorite colors.

My 3 year old really enjoyed the process of adding glitter and sequins to her fish.

We used pom poms to form the eyes of the fish and we used feathers to form the fins of the fish. Of course, when it comes to doing crafts with young kids, it’s all about the fun and the experience! It’s not about creating anatomically-correct fish! 😉

This was such a fun craft and my daughters & I each made three fish! Here are the 9 fish we made. My 3 year old’s fish are on the left column, my 5 year old’s fish are in the middle column and my fish are on the right column.

We then hung our fish right up on the wall to create this super fun school of fish!

As usual, all this crafting made us quite hungry and we needed a quick snack! I decided to make a family favorite: Ellio’s Pizza! Did you know there are six different flavors to choose from: Cheese, Pepperoni, Supreme, Five Cheese, Italian Sausage & Pepperoni and Extra Cheese? A few days ago, I picked up three varieties of Ellio’s Pizza from the store: Five Cheese, Pepperoni and Supreme! I can’t wait to head back and try the other flavors.

After a very short time in the oven, the pizza was ready! We didn’t have to deal with traffic, we didn’t have to leave the house, and we didn’t have to wait for a delivery person… I love making Ellio’s Pizza at home! With 9 slices in each box, this is the perfect size for my daughters and I to have a great after-school snack or dinner! As a mom of two young kids, I really appreciate that Ellio’s only uses the freshest ingredients, including 100% real cheese. Plus, there are no artificial flavors! I can definitely feel good about serving this pizza to my kids!
