Our Halloween Fireplace Mantel
October 13, 2015Well, our Halloween fireplace mantel is finally done- and it’s spook-tacular!! I have all the pumpkins and spiders and spooky faces in position! Remember, this is our first Halloween in the new house and our first year having a fireplace mantel to decorate, so I’m learning the ropes of how to decorate this thing! And I think I’m getting better at it!

I draped some of that dollar store spider webbing all across the top of the mantel. I left it on there pretty thick, so it serves a spooky cloud, upon which all the creatures and crawlers like to nest!

On the right side of the mantel, I placed a grouping of small pumpkins, along with this black owl. The black owl’s eyes actually light up and glow- it’s really spooky! I have a few small black spiders strewn across the spider webbing in various spots, too!

On the left side, I have a few items. My dollar store spooky pumpkin with gold spiderweb sits inside an old white vase. I put it inside the vase to give it a bit of height and drama. That jar with the jack-o-lantern face was a DIY project- I wrote about it here. The small black cauldron was a little item I picked up from Walmart. I also used it in my DIY Haunted House project! And that little white ghost- it’s a tealight candle holder, and when the candle is lit, it’s spook-tacular!! 🙂

I love my fireplace mantel! It was so easy to put this look together and it totally screams “Halloween” to me, but in a child-friendly way! With two young kids in the house, I did not want to create something too frightful! 🙂

Decorating for the holidays are so much fun. What a great Halloween mantle! I really like the black, sparkly owl. I have a thing for owls.
Owls are great! Perfect for Halloween.. but really, they’re a cute addition any time of the year, too!
This is really cute! I especially love the spiderwebs. We hope to put a mantle/fireplace in soon, so this would be perfect for us.
The kids are drawn to the spiderwebs and like to pull them off! Haha!

I absolutely love decorating for the holidays and must admit that I have a hard time letting my boys participate (it is their new favorite thing). Oh well, I guess I should just enjoy it while it lasts!
