Since the new house doesn’t have a gas hookup in the kitchen (or any part of the house, for that matter), when we upgraded the kitchen appliances, we had to buy an electric wall oven and an electric cook top. We used to have gas at the townhouse, so this was a new experience for us. Although I miss the control I get with a gas range, I’m getting used to these electric appliances and making them work well enough!

Today I am sharing with you an easy way to clean electric cook top burners easily, naturally and effectively. It really is a simple solution to a common problem. And like always, when there is a natural method that works, I always prefer it over the store-bought commercial stuff that is laden with chemicals!

Naturally Clean Stove Top Burners

Here is what a burner looked like before cleaning!

Not pretty, I know!

But fear not, I have an easy solution. My two favorite natural cleaning products – baking soda and vinegar – are all it takes to transform these burners!

Now the coils themselves cannot really be cleaned much. According to the manufacturer, those should never be submerged in liquids. So I just wipe them down quickly with a rag dipped in soapy water. As for the little pans underneath, here is what I did to get them sparkling clean!

1. First soak them in a vinegar solution diluted by 50%.
2. After they have soaked for at least 15 minutes, add baking soda and work it into a paste with the vinegar to scrub the little pans.
3. Once clean, dry them with a clean towel.

Voila!

And here they are after I replaced the coils! Much better!
