Faux Finish Painted Pumpkin: Dollar Store Pumpkin Crafts
October 24, 2015I love those dollar store pumpkins! You know I’ve done a lot with those babies: this, this, this and this. And now, today, I’m excited to show you yet another way to easily update those dollar store craft pumpkins. This project was inspired by a DIY Home Remodeling project we did in the old house. We painted “granite” look countertops in our kitchen! Remember this post?! It was fun and easy and lasted a long time. So, today, I’m taking that same idea and extending it to a craft pumpkin to create this cute faux finish pumpkin!
Faux Finish Painted Pumpkin: Dollar Store Pumpkin Crafts
Supplies:
1 craft pumpkin
3 acrylic paint colors (yellow, orange, brown)
paint sponge
clear spray polyurethane
green washi tape
Directions:
1. Starting with the lightest color (yellow), sponge it onto the pumpkin lightly. Make sure you can still see plenty of white!
2. Move onto the next color (orange). Sponge it on lightly.
3. Lastly, sponge on the darkest color (brown).
4. Once dry, spray it well with a clear polyurethane. Wrap the stem with the green tape! Done!

Wow, you made those $ store pumpkins look better than they ever knew they could. Great job giving that poor little thing some real pizzazz. Your pumpkin with tacks is great also, and the topiary. Hope you had fun making them all. Sometimes i wonder how bloggers think up topics for their posts every day. Why I don’t have a blog, too lazy for one.
Enjoy your weekend and happy next week.
Thanks, JaneEllen! You’re always so sweet. Thanks for your kind words. Sometimes even bloggers have a tough time thinking of new ideas! We’re all human! 🙂
