Blue chevron burlap pillow cover transformation

March 17, 2014 0 By EngineerMommy

I’m not really a sew-er…. one who sews! I wish I was! I wish I owned an amazing sewing machine and knew how to do tricks with it. Anyway, I like trying to stretch my craft muscles every so often and go outside my comfort zone. So I figured a pillow case job should be easy enough. Let’s give it a whirl, shall we?

I have a set of pillows I picked up from TJ Maxx a few years ago. They are pretty. A blue and gold stripe pattern with a satin-y finish. But I was getting tired of them. Really tired. So I had to change it up!

I found this tutorial on sewing a zippered pillow cover and it was easy enough to follow along. Even for a sewing novice like me!

Here is the finished product.

Here is the pillow in its original state.

Here is the fabric that I picked up at Hobby Lobby. Using their 40% off coupon from their website, I was able to snag this chic blue chevron burlap fabric for about five buckeroos! Not too bad.

And I have some left over for other projects. Which I love!

And here is the finished product sitting pretty on the couch. I have two of these babies, but only a picture of one.

Anyway, I’m proud of this project and proud that it came out so well considering I’m not an expert sew-er!
