When cooking, there are many substitutions you can employ to save calories and fat. Here are some tips!

  • Substitute bacon with smoked turkey or lean prosciutto.
  • Substitute white bread with whole-grain bread.
  • Substitute oil or butter with applesauce.
  • Substitute oil to prevent sticking with non-stick spray.
  • Substitute an egg with two egg whites.
  • Substitute white flour with whole-wheat flour.
  • Substitute evaporated milk with evaporated skim milk.
  • Substitute salad dressings with flavored vinegars.
  • Substitute cream-based soups with pureed potatoes or tofu.
  • Substitute syrup with pureed fruits.
